Dr. Eder-Moreau, founder and CEO of Vela Psychological Services, completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Fordham University. She completed her clinical training at leading academic medical centers, including Brown University's Alpert Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School. She has worked at institutions across the Northeast, assisting individuals with a wide range of stressors and diagnoses including Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, and Serious Mental Illness. She has worked with people in partial hospital, outpatient, and primary care settings, allowing her to treat a wide range of clinical concerns with depth and precision.
She has particular expertise in women's mental health, including perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, as well as trauma-related conditions. Her fellowship at Brown University centered on helping women with more serious presentations of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders to begin to gain stability and feel like themselves again in very little time. Her approach integrates evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and mindfulness-based interventions, tailored to each individual's needs.
In addition to therapy, Dr. Eder-Moreau specializes in psychological and psychodiagnostic assessment across the lifespan. She has extensive training in cognitive, personality, and diagnostic testing and is known for producing thoughtful, nuanced evaluations that provide clarity and direction for treatment, educational planning, and major life decisions.
Her work is informed by a strong multicultural perspective and extensive experience working with diverse populations, including immigrants and individuals navigating complex life transitions. She is committed to providing care that is both clinically rigorous and deeply attuned to each person's cultural and personal context.
Before becoming a psychologist, Dr. Eder-Moreau worked internationally in project management, an experience that continues to inform her structured, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to clinical care.
"In so many of my consults and sessions with people over the years, I have found that they asked for one thing: they wanted their psychologist to provide them with something they couldn't find elsewhere."
"The women I've counseled in the postpartum period have so frequently said to me that other therapists just listen and validate. At Vela Psychological Services, we do more than that — we listen, validate, and then ask you what else we can do in the therapy space to help you get back on your feet."
"Similarly, with testing, we like our clients to walk away with a sense of clarity — not information they already knew about themselves or their child."
— Dr. Elizabeth Eder-Moreau
Dr. Eder-Moreau founded Vela Psychological Services after recognizing a gap in care: a need for specialized psychotherapy and psychodiagnostic testing that gave clients something they couldn't find elsewhere — not just a compassionate ear, but genuine clarity and forward momentum.
She also noticed that very few practices could focus so uniquely on the influence of our social world, families, and culture on how individuals experience their current stressors — and that this missing dimension was often the key to lasting change.
Vela's mission is threefold — we want to make our clients' lives a little bit easier by:
Getting to the root quickly
Understanding the whole picture — not just the presenting concern — so that therapy is focused, efficient, and genuinely transformative.
Giving you tools, not just a listening ear
Through therapy and psychological testing grounded in research and proven results — so you walk away with something new every time.
Honoring your full story
Helping you understand where your current stressors may have developed, and how your family, culture, and social history shape the way you experience them — because context is everything.
